Environmental Issues facing the Kimberley, Australia.

The threat of wild fires throughout the Kimberley has been exacerbated since European impact by poor land care management, inadequate understanding of how and why Aboriginal people burnt in the past, an acceleration of the introduction of fire dependent grasses and middle storey undergrowth, and most importantly, the growing misconception by government agencies that fire can only be fought with fire.

Compounding this problem is the lack of fire management policies that implement procedures to protect our aquatic systems, native animal biodiversity and our unique ancient rock art.

Join us on our blog page to look at and discuss the many environmental, social and cultural issues facing the Kimberley today.
