Tales From a Top Town Wyndham

Tales From a Top Town Wyndham

Wyndham is the oldest township in the East Kimberley, with the history to go with it, the past has been extremely well documented, from the era of the Durack Family, the Port from back in the Halls Creek Gold rush days of the early 20th century, to the emergence in 1961 of sister town Kununurra, the youngest town in the East Kimberley region.
As a 34 year resident of Wyndham I felt a desire to write a book with a difference. Using Poetry penned by Clarence Thomas (Digger) Cassidy, Shire Clerk of Wyndham East Kimberley 1966 to 1985, I then invited residents, past and present, to submit their own stories and memories of life in Wyndham.
The result is an array of anecdotes, photos etc to compliment the theme of each poem.
The timeline for the journey is 1960 to 2017 and it is amazing how people who are writing about the same subject, have something uniquely different to tell of their own lives over the years when they called Wyndham 'Home'.
It must be noted that Clarrie Cassidy spent 19 years in Wyndham as the longest serving Shire Clerk in the history of the Wyndham East Kimberley Shire.
